It is pretty amazing that he has fronted a well-known band for over 40 years and no one knew he had a a facial birth defect until he became a spokesperson for that charity. He's also had to have a couple of hip surgeries too, correct? Guess all those acrobatics in platforms take their toll.

Been a KISS fan forever and day.

Yes, hip replacement and he is certain that walking around in the 8" heels contributed to the problem. He does so much for charity, including causes for troops. He was born without an ear and no hearing on that side...he has a reconstructed ear, which is remarkable. He also does his own makeup before concerts and afterward, chills and get down on his knees helping full-access fans try wearing his shoes...young women usually. He's real reserved and quiet...on stage it's like a different guy!
