The ISDs in Texas did not form because of bad school systems, they formed due to growing populations.

Texas ISDs have nothing to do with incorporation of cities. Texas ISDs have to share their tax revenue with poorer districts. Texas ISDs that do well have good demographics. Same could be said for any school system outside of West Virginia.

Every school district in Texas has the name "Independent School District" in its official name. Even the districts that are countywide like Aransas County Independent School District. It is just a name and means nothing to distinguish itself from any other kind of school district in Texas. Some ISD's are huge and some are small.

My wife and I have decided to sign the petiton. Will do that this week. We are both career public school educators who are now retired.

Exactly and why I'd take the ISD and stay unincorporated.

How does this work?

They don't have the signatures needed for Dec 4th. The powers behind the push to incorporate wouldn't want it on the December ballot.

Reason: Too many St. Georgeans showing up for the run-off election could be bad news for Jindal's boy, Garrett Graves. St. George is Dan Claitor country.

You're a St. George incorporation campaigner. You'll be in support of Jindal's guy. That's to be expected - and is my point.

eta: Of course, all this is assuming that Edwin Edwards won't make the run-off over Graves. Mother of God, is that actually possible? That'll be 10000x more embarrassing than any dateline show.

I was saying Russian didn't lol. Initially there were some people collecting signatures who weren't verifying info from people correctly, but things are way more controlled now. Everything gets verified by st.George before being counted anyway.

It will get to the ballet at some point. I don't know if it will pass, but just let the people vote already.

Which election is going to bring out the voters most likely to support St George incorporation?

They'll get the signatures in time for that deadline if they don't already have them now.
