I'm seeing a few 2013 911's as well.

A two-year old new vehicle is almost never worth buying, especially if a model change or refresh has occurred in one of those years.

However, if you plan on keeping it for 10+ years the savings will be worth it. After 10 years, just about all vehicle values are more dependent on condition and mileage than anything else.

If you plan on trading in 5 or 6 years, don't do it.

I'm not partial to any one truck in particular. But I do like features more than anything. So of course I want the most bang for my buck. I have 8 and 10 years out of my last two SUVs.

I would like to stay right under 40k TT&L included.

But I still see 2013 brand new fords around some dealerships. What would be a reasonable discount off of MSRP to expect on those type of trucks.

Dealers may take a bit of a loss on those units but they really can't discount them too much. Eventually rebates will bail them out as manufacturers want those units GONE. It's more about rebates than discounts on those old units. But they might be heavily incetivized, you'd have to check.

Is there really any difference in reliability between different manufacturers when it comes to trucks? Like Ford vs Chevy vs Toyota, etc.?

Many will say yes, but they are brand myopic.

IMO it's 6 one way, half dozen another.

Diesel there may be a difference, but there is lots of brand myopia there as well.

I would go by the interior fit and finish, the look, and the best deal you can get. But that's just me.

About a gnat's arse.

They are all pretty good.

Toyota guys will rave about reliability, but Toyota leads the league in recalls. GM is trying like hell to catch them though.

I've been looking at tacomas and honestly buying new seems like the best bet. They just hold their value I can get a new one for roughly $3-$5k more and it has 0 miles compared to one with 30k miles, might as well just but new.

Buying new isn't always as bad as people make it out to be, especially in trucks because they do hold their value well and are usually well incentivized with rebates if you pick the right moment.

True of trucks in general, but you're right about Tacomas.
Tacomas are something special re: resale.

My buddy just bought a 2014 tacoma trd sport and went all the way to Memphis to get the one he wanted. They are tough to find if your not looking for a TSS which seems to be all the dealerships have at the moment. He kind of have me the bug, I've been thinking about t for about a year now and finally decided I'm going to take the plunge.

There is a delicate balance between being a spending whore or being Silas Marner. We only have so much time on this wonderful planet and you should make the most out of it and make yourself happy if it's within the bounds of your budget.

Just my outlook on life. I could be broke before I retire, who knows.
