In a nutshell, Social Liberalism (which is what we consider liberalism in the US) is the belief in semi-free markets with government intrusion on behalf of vulnerable groups.

A liberal sees the world as he wants it to be.
A conservative sees the world as it actually is.
I am not either, I identify more with conservatives but some of their stances on issues are just comical.
I don't really care about alot of the social issues that come up such as gay marriage and the immigration crap, I care about real issues such as economy and jobs. I care about govt trampling peoples rights. Instead of looking at ways to clamp down on people we should be exploring ways to give people even more freedoms. We are still the best thing going and to continue being the light shining we need to be going in a different direction.

Look at what happens when Democrat Liberals are the dominant political power in a US jurisdication, be it, local, state or national. This is just one example.
Another example of how Liberalism is illogical and prone to misrepresentation. A good example is a point in your post. Your point is that there are many people who do not believe that life begins at conception, and that we all need to accept that.
That's really a stupid point, because objective science is quite clear that a new life does begin at conception. What is not clear is the legal status of that life. Many believe that because this living fetus is not a person in the legal sense, that a woman's right to abortion takes precedence. So, we have the abortion issue.
But you are too blockheaded to see that nuance, and you roll up your simpleton's argument into a really stupid comment like: Not everybody believes that life begins at conception.
The only people who don't believe that a new life has begun at conception are people who know nothing about science. They are Flat-Earthers and people who believe that the Sun revolves around the Earth. They are anti-science.

White students are allowed in Black colleges. Colleges that were founded because Blacks weren't allowed to attend White colleges like Ole Miss and LSU until the mid 60's.

Most conservatives think parents should get a choice when it comes to where their child goes to school. Seems most lib-progs are opposed. Why is that?

The actual point of contention in the abortion debate is "Where does humanity begin?" Humans don't unanimously believe that life is sacred. Those of us who aren't Jains don't think twice about swatting a mosquito, shooting a buck, or eating a burger. If we deem it more advantageous than not to end a life, we do it. The question isn't "Is it alive?" It's "Is it Human?" "What defines Humanity?"

The same reason you have people who are against abortion, but are willing to go to actual war for the sake of political ideology. Example: Vietnam.
