I have a Springfield Champion that is the mutt's nuts! SA has a pretty good history with 1911 production & I'll never hesitate to recommend them.

Also, out of all the mainstream firearms manufacturers, they have one of the best custom shops in the business.

Still curious as to whether you're asking about SA 1911's in general or referring to an uncatalogued model?

Just in general, I'm just trying to get a feel for the brand/any possible options that would give me the same firearm for less money if possible

Springfield makes a really good gun at several different price points. May not be the prettiest dressed up afrosheen finish looking k... other brand but a very useable handgun. What kind of money you want to spend?

I'm looking to budget out $600-$750. It'll be a nice Christmas present to myself. How are they on dressing up? For instance, if I wanted to change out the grip inlays, make the gun a little more "Patton-esque"

SA makes great guns

The A-1 loaded is priced priced probably $200 less than it could be and still be considered a fair price
