Not knocking those guys, but if I had to choose a musician between Phil Spector and George Harrison I know who I would pick. It's a broad term, obivously, but I see what you mean.

I know Phil Spector knew how to play instruments. I was just using him as an example of someone writing songs but not actually playing instruments or singing on those songs.

I was coming in here to mention phish as well but I see the hostility and defensiveness is alive and well.
In short: you better not criticize phish fans and if you do you better provide a detailed explanation why and if you do that we'll laugh off your reasons and tell you that you aren't intelligent enough to understand or you don't like music delivered from the hand of God.
Eta thanks for elevating my hatred of phish fans just a bit more. Nothing is more insufferable than fans who can't accept that someone doesn't like their heroes.
