What's causing the pain?

Wow, a serious question/comment on the first page? I wasn't really expecting that. Old football injuries, rough and rowdy past, several car wrecks, etc. 6'1" 215. I could be in better shape but I'm not overweight.

Kangaroos. Keep norcos or oxycontins in pocket.

Thats a bit overweight.

You should be closer to 200, maybe a few pounds under.

Weak abdominal muscles cause most back pain. Strengthen them and you will feel better. Do stretching, leg lifts, sit ups and planks.

I have degenerative disk disease in L 4 & 5. Even though my condition is serious, as long as I keep in shape, my condition stays manageable.
