Yep, I agree with 100% of that. We had 2 last year in Beckham and Landry (2 of LSUs best WRs ever) with Mett (One of LSUs best QBs ever) throwing. I don't think we are going to be throwing the ball that much this year and I don't think we need to.

At least 4 of them COULD see very significant playing time
Fournette
Dupre
Quinn
Harris

It's not like it is unheard of to only use 2 running backs. It may be unheard of for LSU, but its not impossible.

In the SEC, as much as Les likes to run the ball, i dont think 2 RBs would last long. You know there are a couple games each season where 1 RB gets knicked and has to sit. That would leave one guy to take every carry.

It wouldnt be pretty.

The freshmen will see significant PT. I just don't think that we will have to depend on them to get production out of the offense.

Were we not one defensive breakdown away from going to Atlanta?

True

And what's the big deal? It's common knowledge, if not common sense, that the skill positions are often where freshman can make an immediate impact as opposed to the line positions.

yes, but the offense wasn't great in 2012. you had a qb that threw 12 total TD's in a full season with 7 int's.

We were one play away from playing in the SEC champ game. If we would have beaten UGA in ATL, we would have won it all. The statement still stands.

statistics wise, LSU didn't really have that great of an offense.

29 rushing TD's scored in 13 games and 12 passing TD's

Exactly and we were still only a defensive breakdown and a win against UGA away from playing Notre Dame in the National Championship. The point is that no one needs to have these outstanding individual performances with Heisman numbers for the team to be good. The other guy said we NEED a freshman WR to put up 800 yards. LCs comment just proves that we don't at all need that.

overall freshman WR's or backs don't always hurt you. it's two positions where freshmen can shine.

the two where it does hurt is OL and QB. our OL is fine. our QB's are young.

it's not ideal. but it's not dire either.

LSU doesn't need a championship offense to get to the big dance, you're right.

but they still didn't have a great offense in 2012, no matter how you spin it.

I agree, it wasn't great. But it was sufficient.

from 2012, I'll remember all the drops and the unwillingness to give jeremy hill carries until he broke out against USCe.

and the bama game...

Fournette is supposed to be like the next AP so I would think that he will play a large role in the offense this year.

I also think Harris eventually beats out Jennings.

Since we are, and have always been, a run first team, then the answer is yes. With the stoute O-Line, questions at QB, and inexperienced WR corps, LF will play a significant role on this years team.
We'll need at least a credible threat in Dupre and Quinn to keep the backfield honest and aware of a pass attack - if for no other reason than to allow Dural to get his catches. I doubt they'll contribute "Heavily" in terms of stats, but they will be invaluable.
I'm pretty excited about this year. The O could surprise and I think the D will be back to LSU form.

I have zero concern about the freshmen WRs and RBs, they will make an impact for sure but won't be relied upon. However, if Harris wins the job then the chances of us getting double digit wins rests squarely on his shoulders. Like usual, QB play will determine our fate this season.
