Very interesting about the tides. We're getting rid of the Godevil boat and getting a GTail cc to use for fishing and hunting. As long as the bottom is relatively soft I think we'll be in good shape. We did see a guy in an older whaler kicking up mud back there this wknd...his alarm was going off for 10mins. Also ran into a lot of grass up there as you said. I can deal with it if the fishing is ok, but will quickly find some new water if it isn't producing. We ended up with 7-8 reds/black drum and a lot of small throwbacks. Once we get the bigger/faster boat I want to hit all the area just north of Lake Barre.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

I did it with an outboard and only go stuck when I pushpoled myself onto a flat. Still got off without the alarm going off. Find areas where it looks there is a lot of grass, but there is a "channel" through the grass (where boats travel a lot or where current runs through pretty hard). Usually the water is pretty clear and black. You can see the reds. I did a lot of sighcasting and only used artificial. Every trip I made, I was catching 25" reds. You may not fill up the boat, but it's fun fishing. You can go anywhere in a gator tail if there's water covering it. You'll be fine there. Across 56 has some good fishing as well, plus you can get out into the bay a little bit if it's calm.
