Every once in awhile I'll get a feeling in my chest or something and start worrying something is wrong with my heart. Usually my chest starts to feel heavy or I feel something in my throat. I'm 21 and seriously doubt anything too serious could even be wrong but once I notice it I get all worked up which probably makes it worse. Anybody else experience this?

I have the same feelings. It's scary to think of some of the ways people die out of nowhere with no prior warning also.

It's death that you fear. Just be a total badass in all of your endeavors and if you happen to die, screw it. You were planning on doing that anyway.

One of the symptoms of anxiety is a sense of impending doom.

You more than likely have some level of anxiety. I do, it's not always there, but when it is I tend to notice every single little ache, pain, or change in the way I feel all over my body.

I have similar experiences. Got it checked out a couple years ago and I'm all good. Probably just gas.

Had a similar thing and I'm around your age, turned out it was acid reflux in my esophagus but I thought it might be something with my heart.

But yeah, get that shite checked out. Can't be too careful.

Yep. Sometimes I'll climb a few flights of stairs and then get nervous that I put too much strain on my heart. It's fine, but I freak myself out sometimes.

seriously, yeah I have.

family has a history of heart problems, especially the men.

I took Ritalin for several years when I was in grade/high school.

took some Adderall occasionally in college but I really didn't like it.

I work out a few times a week and will sometimes feel like there is some irregular type of beat going on.

a lot od times when I try to go to sleep at night, it feels like it is racing for a second or two but then it goes away.

sometimes my chest aches and feels like it is in the area of the heart. I drink a lot of water because of my job so I doubt I'm dehydrated or something like that.

it sucks.

The symptoms you're describing can be tied back to true anxiety issues. It's probably not so much your heart as it is your mind.

Anything worrisome or stressful going on in your life right now? I remember having something similar at age 21 for almost no reason - even went to the doctor to get it checked out, and I'm not the type to do that for no reason.

They checked me for an embolism, if I recall correctly, but everything came back fine. The older I get the more I struggle with anxiety, though. Lately I've had an unusually high amount of stress at home and I can feel my chest hurt every time the source of it is around.

It can be pretty fricking scary, but the first thing you should do when you feel it coming on is take some deep breaths and try drinking a big glass of water or something. Cutting back on the caffeine can help, too.

Hope this helps.

not to worry you but see a doctor. You are having some anxiety isues. Mental illness comes on around the age you are at, please dont be ashamed and gey yourself checked out before it gets worse, it can transform into something major! Bit right now just sounds like some anxiety issues that can be helped. Good luck

Not even a little bit. Life is too short to be worrying about little things all the time. I mean if you feel you have a legit issue is one thing but to sit around and just worry for the shite of it..... Nah

Luckily in from that nine and dont mind dyin'

See if you can get a complete physical done. At 21, you probably are in a crossroads in your young adult life. Anxiety can arise at any age. Depression and anxiety can often co-exist together in many cases.

Caffeine and high sugar intake can cause symptoms of anxiety. Panic attacks can be caused by thoughts of impending doom. Get checked out by your GP doctor.

At your age, heart disease is not likely but get screened for anxiety and see if your heart is healthy. Stress is a big factor in a young person often because the person is entering into a different phase of his/her career or life.

There are some very good mediation apps that are available for free. Listening and calming your mind and body can help you feel better. Little changes can lead to big improvements in how you deal with stress. Dietary changes can be big as well.

Live in the present day. No need to review the past. Be hopeful and open your heart to God and his wonderful purpose for your life. God bless.

It is probably acid reflux. You should speak to your doctor about Nexium.

You symptoms are a perfect match for anxiety. Just wait till you have your first full blown panic attack.
