Yes it is.

So, the article you linked is quoting an article from Bleacher Report.

Predicting Every ESPN College GameDay Stop for 2014 Season
ESPN College GameDay in Mobile? Story suggests South Alabama-Mississippi State game good candidate
ESPN College GameDay in Mobile? Story suggests South Alabama-Mississippi State game good candidate
quote:
Last year's late-September trip to Fargo showed that ESPN is willing to go off the beaten (read: power conference) path every now and then for a good story. And there are few better than the one South Alabama is writing in its short college football history.
Formed only in 2010, the program went from 2-11 in 2012 to 6-6 last season, with last year's performance including wins over two bowl teams and a one-touchdown setback at Tennessee. And now the Jaguars get a chance to take down a school from the SEC, the league that not only dominates nationally on a performance level but grabs the attention of most college football lovers in Alabama.
The fans in Mobile love their football and annually support the teams that come into town for the GoDaddy and Senior Bowls. Now it's time to give them, and the USA student body, a chance to bask in the glow of the national spotlight for at least one Saturday.

Why are you linking a Bleacher Report article? Why are you linking a second article quoting said Bleacher Report article? There is no substance to either article.
It's just a prediction from a fan that was accepted as a featured columnist (via internship program, probably) for a website that is a glorified blog. Having been an intern at Bleacher Report in college, I can tell you that is exactly what it is. Nothing more, nothing less.
You can't seriously take something away from that website. I like the website because it allows opinions to be seen by masses, but it's ridiculous that you come here quoting it like the article is a legitimate news source.

Just doesn't seem feasible right now.
well, if the money keeps pouring in like it has been then sure... we'll get a stadium. We'll continue to play SEC teams and other teams from the bigger conferences in the next few years and make some nice money off of that.
I can't believe how much the campus has changed even in the time since I was a student there.
Look, I think South can be a legitimate team in the Sun Belt this year. ULL is still the best and while we may have beaten the absolute shite out of them last year (haha) I don't think we saw their best effort. Plus they were playing without their starting QB and had already secured their bowl game.

MOBILE, Alabama -- A website has suggested ESPN's College GameDay should visit Mobile on Saturday, Sept. 13 for the South Alabama home game against SEC member Mississippi State at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Holy shite, someone literally made an article about a websites speculation
What a joke.
ETA AND you linked Bleacher report?
Double fail

All the responses in this thread are just as credible if not more than bleacher report. Bleacher report is scum fan journalism and doesn't bring any insight to this thread

You linked it like it was something of substance. It isn't. Like this topic, it's simply a prediction. A fan that writes for a sports website will provide everyone here with insight that we don't know already? That article did nothing to expand the conversation.
College Gameday went to Fargo because of the success of the program up at NDSU (three straight national championships and a 43-2 record over that span). There's something noteworthy about that.
South Alabama should be commended for building up a competitive program that can beat other shitty programs, but it's not a national news grabber.
College Gameday rarely dips out of the marquee match-ups. Last season in Fargo was one of the first, if not the first. History sides with everyone here that believes it will be at another site.
If S. Alabama gets it, cool. I will eat crow. I'd be shocked, though.

2012: Navy vs Troy
2011: Notre Dame @ Michigan
2010: Illinois vs Northwestern
2009: Army @ Air Force

call us when South Alabama makes the newly expanded 8 team playoff after being undefeated for two years with 5 straight Sun Belt titles and when Mississippi fricking State is the "big boy" they need to beat to become Boise State-type legit

That game was so overhyped. They were honestly lucky tey got gameday. Only Catholics and Tim "The Toolman" Taylor give a frick about those two washed up teams. South Alabama actually has a fan base

You're dumber than you seem if you don't see the significance of some of these games in comparison to South Alabama and Mississippi State.
1.) Navy-Troy: Gameday was aboard the USS San Diego in tribute to ESPN's Fourth Annual America's Heroes: A Salute to Our Veterans.
2.) Notre Dame-Michigan: The significance of this game is far greater than a random South Alabama-Mississippi State game. These are the two more storied football programs this country has to offer. Not to mention, it was the first night game in Michigan Stadium.
3.) Army-Air Force: Not only is this game part of the Commander-in-Chief's trophy, but it came on a special week of ESPN programming in conjunction with Veterans Day.
4.) Hampton-FAMU: FAMU became the first historically black college to host College Gameday. Again, far greater significance than a "new" Division I team that is somewhat competitive.
5.) Illinois-Northwestern: Game was played at one of the most historic stadiums (Wrigley Field) this country has to offer.

6. North Dakota St.-Delaware St: NDSU beat a Division I team once so they gave them a Gameday host
You can turn just about anything into some type of promotion. "4-year old football program immediately takes on the strongest conference in the NCAA". Boom you have a story that ESPN can over exaggerate like they do everything else. The media can make a story out of anything to you sheep.
