Eph's wife, Kelly?, was turned without being bitten when the worm went into her eye. That is probably key to the type of vampire she becomes. The ones who are bitten become the mindless zombie vampires, and those that aren't bitten remain more sentient like the German guy.

possibly because we haven't seen otherwise. Sean Astin wasn't bitten either but he was nicked and infected with just a worm but was killed before we saw what happened to him.
If a second season has been ordered, I am curious if season 1 covers the whole first book or if it will end somewhere near the middle of the book? Any book readers want to enlighten me on this one? How far into the book are we at this point?
