Right, but when was the last time someone other than Cannavaro got the golden ball for scoring 0 goals in elimination play?
Btw, Muller and Robben were voted second and third best.
ETA: Apparently Zidane beat Cannavaro for the Golden Ball in 2006.

Doesn't matter. Messi and James Rodriquez were the only options IMO. Muller was fantastic, but he was playing with 10 other superstars on the field with him and about 5 more on the bench. Messi and James carried their teams out of the group stage and Messi drug Argentina all the way to the finals without any offensive help. It was well deserved.
