Restart the computer and press F2 (or whatever function key gets you into bios. I think F2 is for dell.) Just F2 F2 F2 the whole time. If no response, then it has nothing to do with your OS.
Either the KB connection is unseated or fried. Then as suggested above, google your laptop and see how to replace the keyboard. Keyboards are usually 4 or so screws on the bottom of the laptop and then you pry it open. That way you can check if it's connector got unseated.
If you are in a dire position with your thesis, run to a store and grab a usb keyboard for now.
