Once you agree on the value, they should be able to issue the check within a day or 2. I'm sure that's why they allowed the rental car through Wednesday. Something's not adding up.

We agreed on the value today. They emailed me documents to give them power of attorney over the vehicle. I signed them, had them notarized then sent them via FedEx. I went to the collision center and gave my permission for them to come get the car. I called USAA and he said it would take 5-7 business days once they get the documents and car (hopefully Monday) and then a couple more days for me to get the check but to turn the car in Wednesday. He said that was some sort of state law that prohibits them from paying for it beyond that. Sounds a little fishy to me.

Ask him to provide you with that La. Statute. Should be simple to check it out. If he doesn't have the statute number, he's full of shite.

The one time this happened to me, Progressive gave me a check at the same time I signed the papers accepting their settlement offer. Rental was returned that day.
