I think what bothered me was the fact that he missed the first shot. If you can't shoot competently enough to properly euthanize the dog, then maybe you aren't the one to do it.

I can shoot better than that.

Can you tell us more about the setting of this? Is it a big town?

I didn't make an assumption either way, just stated my opinion.

If in a crowded subdivision, it would be safer, not to mention more considerate of your neighbors, to take that kind of business else where.

If you live on a county road where your nearest neighbor is a half mile away, back yards probably as good a place as any.

i like your passion, in this thread, i'll have to follow you around more.

and I was being facetious in my last post (of course)

my point is that a lot of assumptions are being made about a situation that we know maybe 50% about.

but this board abides everyone's opinion, which makes it fun.

I live in a subd.. I have no issue with a guy shooting his dog in his yard. Not him shooting a cat sitting on top of a fence or a squirrel from a tree (unless he's using a bb gun).

as stated earlier, i don't like that he threw the dog over the fence (which again, we don't know all the circumstances as to why)

Doubt it if he just threw the dead dog over the fence

Holy Christmas some of you people are stupid. No vet charges $300 for this.

This is the only thing I have an issue with. Especially if the guy could hit it first shot. But different strokes for different folks. Been a fun thread. Happy lunch time

It occurred in an upscale gated subdivision in a medium sized town.

I don't think he was upset. I think he stood too far back with a pistol.

To the poster who shoots abandoned and dumped sick dogs, I applaud you. I despise dog dumpers, cowards who won't take care of their own dogs.

Surprised at the outrage over putting the dog down by shooting vs vet.

On second thought, No, I'm not.

I don't see much outrage with the putting down yourself part. I think it's mainly the aftermath.

I wouldn't have tossed in to the neighbors yard, but otherwise NBD IMO
