But those stats can't be right. Neither can what Rhymes said. Can't be true. Javi was awful according to everyone.

He either isn't good enough for a position at the LSUs of college baseball (he would have a similar job lined up elsewhere by now), or he doesn't have the passion for college baseball and wanted to do something else out of the blue. Either way that says a lot about this being a positive departure for LSU.

I think it's pretty obvious this was basically CPM firing Javi. Why else would LSU already have a replacement lined up.

Because they've known he was leaving for weeks lol. Believe what you want but every single account of this situation is Javi is legit retiring from coaching to spend more time with his family.

I know Andy. Grew up and played ball with his little brother. Andy is a good dude. Happy for him to get a chance and hope he does well. If he gets the job.

I know people won't take PM's word on the value of Javi but there's been a number of players speak out in support of him.
boo hoo he needed to go.

Bingo.... He walked in and resigned after the UH game. People don't realize javi did ALL of the recruiting for the program. Most people also don't understand that Paul is the guy behind the curtain for lsu hitting. His micromanaging drove goodwin away and has made Sanchez hate coaching. Before you bash me I am one who would have chased him out with a pitchfork. I think this will not be the end of problems for lsu baseball if the head coach does not change his ways.
Cliff Godwin has never stayed at one school for more than 3 years. And Javi has been with Paul Mainieri for 11 years. It's hard to believe Mainieri's micromanaging drove Javi to hating coaching.
The guy is 32 with a young family that he never got to see. Pretty legit reason to resign IMO.

So your saying cliff took the number 2 spot at UCF over the number 2 spot at LSU because it was a better opportunity and he is a job hopper?

Cliff Godwin was the #3 guy at LSU. He had an offer to go with a friend of his and build a program together. He had a chance to prove himself more at UCF because he's was basically the head coach offensively.

Signing guys that can hit is way more important than having some guy who's trying to teach marginal hitters to hit the way the manager wants them to.
This news of a new hitting coach should be taken with a grain of salt.

It's about time. New baseballs and a new hitting coach should make for a great 2015 baseball season.

I don't doubt most of your post. I have always felt that Mainieri's offensive philosophy plays a part in the offensive struggles. I will disagree that Mainieri "drove Javi out of coaching". If Javi was frustrated with CPM, then he would have jumped to another school. This looks like he just burnt out on coaching altogether.

Javi deserves credit for LSU's success but sometimes when the message changes it benefits everyone and in this case I think a new hitting coach will benefit this program. He recruited some great talent and LSU seemed to keep a lot more top prospects than they had in the past which is good but some recruits were coming to LSU no matter what like the Nolas. LSU had far to many cutdowns to consider recruiting a total success and all the pitchers in this year's class came to learn from Dunn.

Alleva must have hinted during PM's year end evaluation that a change could be good

javi was a great recruiter...there is no denying that. he worked his arse off, the ncaa really needs to take another look at their coaching structure rules. far too few baseball coaches are allowed to recruit and i would imagine it wears them out quickly.
