You're wearing the No. 7, they don't just let anybody wear No. 7. So true.

Couldnt you say the same about 18? Before Matt Mauck was it a big deal? No. But it means something now. A legacy like that can be created in short time depending on who carries on the tradition.

the number doesnt mean anything. Look just go back and see how many names you recognize that wore that jersey. I guess youd get to Tyrann, Patrick, then thats about it.

Paul Rushing, harold chambliss, michael shultz, jimmy welker, adrian mayes. Yeap some real house hold names there.

All hose guys wore it between faulk and highsmith. Before trev, rondell mealey wore it for 4 years.

It started with Peterson. Its a young tradition, but the players seem to love it. Not sure why people are opposed to starting a new tradition like this. These things have to start somewhere. If Buga kills it in #7, it just further solidifies the tradition.

18 is cool too

I would love to know why people don't like the # traditions. If they last for decades it could become something really, really cool and be something Les Miles leaves the program with forever.

The beginning of all traditions have people saying they're stupid, then 30 years later those people disappear.

#18 is for character guys, team leaders.

#7 is for ballers.

We need both.

That's because it's a new tradition, bro. Pretty much started with PP7 passing it down to Mathieu. Just like the 18 tradition is new. It doesn't matter who wore it 30 years prior as to whether or not it has any meaning now.

And I liked when Jarvis Landry said he wanted to wear 80. He wanted to honour the wars that wore it before.

wars? honour?

and honestly, LSU hasn't had many great players wear #80. The only big time player I can think of off the top of my head is Dwayne Bowe and, to a lesser extent, Doug Moreau, unless you want to count punters. Landry wore 80, very likely, due to so many great NFL players wearing the number, namely Jerry Rice

i know that. i was referring to chad kessler and donnie jones as other great players that have worn 80 that were punters. doubt a wide receiver would pick the number 80 to honor two punters. LSU just hasn't had that many great players wear 80, which is actually pretty odd

I'll always love TM7

There were also some very humble quotes in there.
