A lot of it is personal responsibility. People do not prioritize health insurance in this country and fail to get insurance to cover them adequately.

Nor do they save money to cover expenses in case of an emergency.

Some of it, yes, but when the majority of people are getting health insurance through their employer, they're often at the employer's mercy for the plan they have.

I have to agree. Many of these problems wouldn't exist if they had bought life insurance, disability insurance, or supplemental plans to help fill the gaps in their medical insurance.
