Dirk is the star in Dallas, but he's getting old and isn't part of that team USA vibe that most of these big fish FAs belong to. (LBJ, Kobe, Durant, CP3, etc.)
I'd say this is a big one.
Most of the US stars grew up playing with and against each other in the AAU, college, Team USA, etc., and their life's ambition seems to be to end up on the same team together.
Not only does Dirk not fit that, he's also on his last legs. If someone wanted to join a guy on his last legs, they'd sign with Miami to play with Wade.

Dirk is older, but I wouldn't call him "on his last legs."
He was still a 20/7 guy last year, though admittedly he's kind of gone back away from his attacking post game that was a huge part of the 2011 championship game as he's gotten older. He's relying on 3s more again, and his deadly midrange stuff.
In addition to everything else that's been thrown out in this thread, It would not surprise me if the FAs and Agents didn't look to kindly on the blowing up of the championship team. They didn't even try to defend, didn't want to pay chandler, and then just traded for the expiring version of his contract that they didn't want while they've been tooling around in the 8/9 position the last 3 years.
