So then why is Asian and the pacific rim doing so well? The answer cannot just be "colonialism" since there are plenty of counter examples to disprove the hypothesis.
What countries were heavily colonized in the Pacific Rim and are doing well?

The Philippines is all I've got.

Well, I guess you could call "dump our prisoners on that landmass" a type of colonization.

Southern China which is low latitude as part of the Chinese empire was the most powerful and advanced country of the world at one time.

Indian Empires which were low latitude had powerful and advanced societies.

The Aztecs were low latitude and were advanced.

None of these cultures were able to become as successful as western cultures. Sure they are catching up now (minus the Aztecs) but only due to western ideas.

The question is how and why did the west come up with these ideas and promote them. Economic natural selection? Environmental determinism? Probably a combo of both.

Seemed to work out pretty well. I guess the worst of British society are better at creating a civilization than the natives of Australia are?

Africa was messed up long before colonialism.

Conveniently ignored.

Tribalism set the conditions for successful colonialism. The arbitrary boundaries established by colonialism exacerbated the problem. And continue to do so (a simple example is Somalia and Ethiopia).

It is believed that upwards of 98% of the Native populations of North and Central America perished to disease between 1500 and 1600 AD. Of course the natives couldn't stop the white settlers, THEY WERE ALREADY DEAD!

It is belived, by whom. What is the evidence?

Like global warming, someone with a point of view.

It is clear the population declines, the current question is only how many were there before the decline.

1. Europeans - because they're fricking stupid.

2. Africa/Asia/South America - not enough time in the fricking day lack of infrastructure, standards placed on them by more advanced/industrialized nations, rampant corruption, violence, etc. you have countries trying to industrialize, grow and they cannot do that under heavy international regulation and no infrastructure to speak of
