ETA: What do you think about popular media? Does it influence political thought towards liberalism?

Yes. This goes back to my argument about the D's being better at politics.

Depends, and I would also say its regional. I went to an elite midwest private school that was very liberal leaning. Something tells me Ole Miss wouldn't quite be the same way.

Depends on what graduate field of study, but by this point your training is so specialized, there isn't as much room for general discussion regarding politics in the nation, unless its policies that directly affect your field (health care discussion in med schools for example).

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks brosef

My (very limited) experience at LSU as an undergraduate nearly thirty years ago. I was a bit older than your average student (having served in the military right after high school). Was in the process of applying for an Army ROTC scholarship and was taking several freshman level classes. Three immediately come to mind;

Introduction to US Government - First lecture is a diatribe about how wealthy landowners created the United States solely for their own profit (easy drop).
History of Western Civilization - First lecture is a diatribe on how everything that is wrong with Western Civilization is the fault of the Roman Catholic Church (easy drop).
Introduction to Political Thought - Awesome class where the professor told us straight up you would not be able to determine his political thought. Made you fight tooth and nail to defend your political positions. The reason I eventually chose Political Science as my undergraduate. Wish I could remember the name of this professor. He was awesome.

Hmm interesting. Being premed at my school, I didnt take any of that stuff. Closest was intro to anthro as a senior just for the easy A.

Well I did take intro to womens studies as a sophomore. It was me and one of my good friends. It was in the afternoon and we pregamed with a few cold ones before each class But we werent in there to fight for men or point out all of the flaws in their arguments. We were just about the easy A

Because they get people like you repeat that they've won the narrative advantage when they haven't.

I hear you bro. I was completely oblivious to freshman classes and how professors slanted them towards their perceptions. I knew I could not answer any tests with the government class so I immediately dropped. The Western Civ class blew me away because of how vitriolic he was in the class towards Roman Catholicism when many of the students were of that religion. Knew I needed to move on as well.

If you are a right-winger who rants, you're a racist, elitist, sexist, homophobe, angry white bigot.

A left-wing rang and you are standing for equality, no matter how nasty the rang goes.

Why have democrats won this narrative advantage?

Just for grins, could you give specific examples? Which rants? Who/what is making the judgments that bother you?

The Left controls the media.

The Left controls the educational system.

The Left controls Hollywood.

in addition to that, the phony, agenda-driven concept of political correctness dictates that liberals are good and conservatives are bad.

Mix it all together, and that's why liberal idiots like Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, etc are not held accountable for much of their stupidity, while a brilliant conservative like Ted Cruz is portrayed as a kook.
