not a bad idea. not sure if it would actually work, but socioeconomic segregation is a problem

You should read some Thomas Sowell on this issue. He calls it 'the right to disassociate' or 'the right to part company.'

I did it when I was 17 years old. I had full rides to USL (now ULL) and Centenary. USL was our local college and my parents wanted me to take their offer. But I had done early admissions at USL and realized that it was a crappy school (apologies to all you ULL grads). I went to Centenary specifically to avoid contact with morons.

I currently live on a street where the average home value is about a Million. I planned it by design many years ago with the express motivation of avoiding contact with poor people.

If I want to be around poor people I'll hang out at the liquor store on the day welfare checks get cashed.

I've heard this argument many times. Just curious about your take on this matter.

If socioeconomic diversity is mutually beneficial to all parties, how will the rich benefit from living in the same area as the poor?
