Miele. Spend $400 once on a German motor and steel ball bearings that you absolutely can't destroy or spend the $100/a year at walmart on whatever.

Dyson and Miele are good, but at 24 years old, I'd go get a nice Bissell with Hepa filter for ~$250. It'll last you 10 years, at least. Have had ours for 5 years so far.

I have all wood floors, and area rugs.

I bought a Bissell bagless for fifty, sixty bucks at Target five years back, still sucking like Rebeloke.

I have a Miele and it is great, but the bags are a fortune! About $5/bag.
