The NCAA calendar year has rolled over and with that, the latest wave of conference realignment goes into effect.

ACC
Incoming: Louisville
Leaving: Maryland

Big 10
Incoming: Maryland, Rutgers
Leaving: None

American
Incoming: East Carolina, Tulane, Tulsa
Leaving: Rutgers, Louisville

Conference USA
Incoming: Western Kentucky, Old Dominion
Leaving: East Carolina, Tulane, Tulsa

Sun Belt
Incoming: Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Idaho, New Mexico State
Leaving: Western Kentucky

Of the 128 schools to play at the FBS level this season, more than 40 percent have made at least one move over the past decade.


That figure doesn't even include the shake-ups of the mid-to-late 1990s that produced the Big 12, Conference USA and the Mountain West.

Notre Dame, one foot into the ACC.

I always thought that Notre Dame would have wound up in the Big 10 when the dust settled. Also, WTF is with Idaho in the Sun Belt?

A great day for Louisville, perhaps the biggest thing to ever happen to the University.While the ACC may not be the best football league in the land, it is a major step up in class for us. UofL is making a big deal about it as ACC Commissioner Swofford will speak today along with our AD Tom Jurich in a morning press conference. There is also going to be a pep rally for the fans in the afternoon.
