Haha I think I agree. I just looked up Anna Fantastic and Prince actually gave her that name. Prince named another human being let alone one he was banging.

Here my opinion on those posted, not all of them
- Bob Dylan - I mean, he is cool, but he is sorta one trick pony.
- Iggy Pop - Super cool dude, but I don't feel like he has the genre defining moment like bowie.
- bono - a douchenozzle
- Keith richards - definitely cool but he wasn't a frontman, and always played 2nd fiddle to mick, who david bowie had sex with (i wonder who the top was). he shoudl get an honorable mention for being a live, but as al jorgensen said - heroin just pickled him
- prince - I think he could have made an argument before he converted to jehovah witness.
- bill murray and kris kristoferson - these are probably the best resumes IMHO for coolest but still fall short of Bowie. Bill murray is like a long running cultural joke at this point.

Pretty sure he named Vanity and Apollonia, too, who were both relatively hot in their day (and he was banging them, too.)
ETA: Prince, while pretty cool, is probably a tick or two too weird to be coolest alive.
Guys like Clooney have that old school, brat pack kind of cool - since Miles Davis left us - we haven't really had that kind of guy on the music side - I'd agree Iggy Pop might have filled that vacuum.
