That looks amazing. If only LSU would do someting similar for the exterior of Tiger Stadium.

well, outside the east upper deck, LSU kinda has. Not brick like that, but what UT did was done to match the rest of the buildings on campus. UT's campus has also gone a massive renovation all over the past 5 years to match the older buildings up on the Hill. Just for reference, I attended UT for undergrad. (sidewalk fan shield, haha)

That painting is pretty and all. And Neyland has definitely improved over the erector set look it had in the past. Nevertheless, in person, I don't really think it looks better than Tiger Stadium does, even currently.

There has to be something that can be done to improve the west facade...that is what most people complain about when it comes to the exterior. It really needs to be fixed. When you look at what other stadiums are doing to their exterior, the west side is simply unacceptable.

Agreed, although I think it will be fine for the time being.
Upgrade the lower bowl concourses, restrooms, concessions, everything really and then worry about putting up something to cover the outside.
IDK what they could do, but it would be cool if some people on here did their own renderings like they did before the south went up.

ETA: not to bring up color again, but isn't it gonna look funny when they finish up that left side with the stucco type finish butted up against the West Upper?

And I would agree with that. Objectively, however, Tiger Stadium lacks a coherent exterior look. Literally every side is different from every other. And in the case of the west side, it's even a different color scheme entirely.
Not to mention, the plaza improvements...
...so with these pics in mind, is it really wrong for me to wish for a consistent, coherent look that is the same on every side of the stadium?
I'm thinking not.

That stupid rebar over the glass looks so bad.

Whoever decided to make the columns tan needs to be shot.

I wonder why they didn't just tint the glass like on the tower on the south?

AGREED !!
Plus , those Ugly Gates, Columns and fence on the WEST side needs to be relocated to the Tennis, Softball or Swimming facility. (But those donors who got there Names on the gates would Cry)
To be honest I think those names on Gates look tacky. They could have had a small wall showing who help with the new improvements on the stadium. (This was a REACH for MONEY) not really being concern about what it would look like. I hate when LSU pimps it's self like that.

You can see that one sliver of glass in the middle without rebar, and it actually looks good.

Good fricking god some of you people are insufferable.. None of this and I repeat none..would have been built or will be built without the big money donors.. Their donations allow the TAF to gather the bonds to pay for every single major improvement the University endeavors to undertake.. If they want the name above a gate as a selling point..so be it.. I know 3 of the families with gate names very well and none asked for it but weren't going to turn down being honored for their contributions.

The most peculiar feature of this renovation are two monumental, PINK terracotta gateways which house the four new elevator towers and mark a main entry to the stadium. Combined with the original white concrete arches, the sharp-angled circulation ramps, these gateways form a new exterior to Tiger Stadium that is, frankly, a bit of a mess. The previously harmonious exterior has been broken by a confusing mix of architectural expression brought on by the addition of upper decks on the east and west sides of the stadium.

Honestly though, these two look more pink to me than the ones on the west

I really don't understand why our stadium isn't cohesive at all.
I mean shite the north side that they just redid has white, black, and red bricks...
The stadium looks great and I love our stadium, but I think that we as fans have a right to be a little upset with the complete lack of vision when spending millions and millions of money on these projects.

The brown/red bricks are at the entrances to gates...they're designed to draw the eye to those spots. The grey/white is to bring in components of the surrounding area (PMAC included).
From this thread:
- People are colorblind
- People don't understand visual sightlines and what color can do to those.
- People will generally just find something to complain about.
Yes, I know the West, South and East don't "match". Yes, I know the West Side had a sewage pipe showing. Yes, I know the West Side has these ugly bars across them.

And hasn't been since the 1950's. They at least took SOME inventory of the original architecture with the SEZ expansion.
And I, for one, think the "new" West Upper Deck is light years better than the original one.
