The shelf life for players in the NBA is much longer than NFL players and the teams at the top usually have no illusions about turning their team around in just one year. So you aren't going to see as many decisions based on what they can do for your team in their rookie year. And getting a top 10 player is really the only way for some of these teams to have a chance to compete, and most NBA people believe that a healthy Embiid has the best chance to be that 'move the needle' type player.

I don't know. If I were a NBA GM I would be terrified of the potential for a recurring injury in Embiid. You might get a couple of productive years out of him, but him being a big guy (7 Footer) you immediately think of guys like Oden, Yao Ming, Bynum. Any type of leg injury really kills these big men. Ming is probably an exception because he played for a while. However, the other two knuckleheads should weigh heavily on the GM minds.
