Less then 2 more weeks of this busy work nonsense.

That's the truth. I still have a ton of work to do on part 2 of my project because my motivation is near non-existent at this point.

I do love that ignored screenshot on the whole survey thing in the forum.

Hey Craig_miamifl,

Are all the other courses proctored?

MKT 701 wouldn't be so over-kill if we didn't have the proctored exam.

Cant find time to read all the material with the assignment/project, very tough trying to retain all that information when trying to complete the project.
I shouldn't of taken this course first.

@Mikegor85 Not all are proctored.

FIN701 (Vines Spring 2018 ), MADM720 (K.Williams Currently enrolled), ACCT701 (Ambrosio Fall 2017) aren't off the top of my head. If we even had exams in MADM760, they weren't either. Think we just had small open note/book quizzes in it. I'm sure others are not proctored but right now I'm drawing blanks on any others.

Proctoring is good for the program IMO. Why they still have a no review policy with it I have no idea. It's from your mistakes (and knowing what you missed) is where learning actually occurs. It is just so bizarre. And that doesn't even get into the fact that professors can/should be changing questions each new session with the no-text format.
------------

The first few weeks in MKT701, I'd type an outline of notes. Lately I've just been highlighting in her MS Word documents (saving time). Often times I'm just read the first sentence/two of paragraphs. I'm not recommending anyone do this but I'm completely over this course at this point and have done fine on all the exams to date. The course is just overload of busy work. Coming off MADM715 last session, this course is a walk in the park.

Outside of MADM715 and MKT701, none of the other courses had anywhere near the amount of material to do/read so I wouldn't let this MKT course frighten you going forward

@criag_miamifl thats exactly what happened. My co-worker was in the last class and sure enough their project was about the fitbit. I also remember him saying that she canceled the last weeks final application forum after their project part 2 papers were turned in.

I appreciate how present she is for the class but her administration is all over the place.

Anyone seen any opportunity for extra credit in Module 6 in MKT701?

Hi FL Sun, apologies for my delayed reply.. I'm doubling up this term and it's been exhausting...

m123 provided some great insight and I am so happy to have made friends on the trip such as her! Overall, yes, I thought the trip and the learnings were worth the cost. We were the first group from LSUS to go on the trip last year and the professors were learning the first time what the program structure was like, so they couldn't really answer our questions. There were several things that I wish I knew before going, so I will try to address them here. Below are some of the pros and things to be aware of since this year's trip is going to Australia again and through the same organizing company:

Pros:
- It will be summer in Australia, the weather is great and you can hit the beach, etc. The city itself is beautiful and I would totally go back.
- Bonding with fellow online classmates and forming personal connections.
- Immersion in a country, actually living like a local for nearly 2 weeks in Sydney gives you a different perspective.
- Several of the speakers were excellent, high caliber such as the CFO of Costco Australia, GM of NAB, etc.

Things to be aware of:
- I thought "company visits" meant we would go out and visit/observe/work with a particular company. In actuality, you sit in a classroom and different speakers come in.
- You are combined in the classes with students from other universities. For us last year, we were the ONLY MBA students, the rest were all undergraduate students. The issue with that is, I wanted a deeper dive into the business, operations, etc. from the speakers, yet most of the presentations were surface level "sales" presentations. This is likely due to having a more "general" content approach vs. tailored to MBA students.
- It is "dorm" style accommodations. Having a roommate is fine, but I did not expect that you will need to supply your own towels, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, bath mat, hand soap, trash liners (use shopping bags). In other words, it is not a "hotel" type with maid service. You are on your own. My recommendation: bring your own towels, laundry detergent (I brought some tide pods), a bath mat, and be prepared to buy other items you may need.
- The apt. we stayed at is a bus ride away from the University where classes take place. You will be provided with a transportation card to take the bus, but give yourself ample time in the am to get there.

For Assignments, we had a group presentation powerpoint, group paper, and a final exam.

Overall, I am so happy I went. I just wished I knew more about the living situation to be better prepared. Scrambling to shop for basic necessities was not what I expected on day 1. Let me know if you have other questions!

BADM 790 (Process Improvement) is still showing TBA for the instructor. Does anyone know about instructor through Voumard/Coordinator?

Secondly, how rigorous is this course? Can anyone share the nature of work/load/projects? Does it require Stats knowledge?

@ Cin8: Regarding "International Experience", how much was the total expense for you? $2600+$50+1250+Ticket/incidentals+food? Can you please share itemized expenditures? This will help many like me to save/plan better.

hy is not shocking that there would be contradictory info and confusion about the Final Application Forum?

And so the MKT701 drama continues...now the Application Forum is opened days early, due by Tuesday next week.

Let me add that to finishing the project, starting reading for this week, and taking this week's exam. Motivation to continue is dwindling fast.

MKT701 extra credit. Take the official class evaluation then answer a question at the bottom of module 6.

I thought it was supposed to open yesterday, but she delayed it a day so we can finish the project and then half a** the application forum.

I had thought she said she was opening it Thursday.

At any rate, the upside is that based on my grade for Forum 2, the coaches appear to grade pretty generously and loosely. I'd imagine they have a crazy workload grading all of this stuff and want it graded as fast as we want it submitted.

MKT701: LOL still ignoring the screenshot even when directly asked

So a project due then 24 hours later an Application due. Yeah, that's realistic. This woman is completely delusional.

...along with my quiz scores.

Again my paper feels like it has too much verbiage and not enough research. Seems like you can poach a little bit from Part 1 though so that helps. Based on everyone's grades on Part 1 I think we'll all do fine - its just time-consuming.

So... I my have spoke too soon about my quiz scores in MKT701.

Her module 4 and 5 quiz adjustments really boosted my scores.

On the bright side, she's giving extra points on those quizzes after review. And the class is almost mercifully over.

The project is just a complete mess. It's simply not realistic to complete this (well) in less than 5 weeks (between the 2 parts) for an unknown product/unknown company. There simply isn't the research available to make these more than opinion pieces.

Edit: Just saw your response after I posted. Yeah it is nice she actually reviews the tests and awards points for the highly missed questions.

Hi Winchester,

She gave credit for people that missed certain questions. There is a debrief for exam 4 and exam 5 online. I got two extra points on Exam 5.

On another topic, why the bleep..bleep..bleep are people going on about costs. Didn't she make that part easy for us? Weren't we supposed to just use the EBITDA from the spreadsheet to determine our profitability? Why all of this additional information about advertising costs, etc. AFTER I TURNED IN MY FREAKING PAPER?

@Sactown I think some people are going down the rabbit hole with it. I felt like my project 1 paper was way to vague with not enough research and numbers but I came just fine like most everyone else. I'm probably going to submit soon and I didn't do any additional number crunching aside from what was on the spreadsheet.

@Winchester12 you are probably right. I am just worried that the project requirements are evolving as discussions continue to occur.

My grader only seems to care about APA and grammar, so I'm not putting any extra effort into the spreadsheet. I did email Dr. James about a custom spreadsheet last week, thanks to my product, and she was super responsive and had one whipped up in an hour or two. I could get it modified more, but I just don't have the energy or see the point.

(edit too wordy--chopped this down)

Hi Cin8 & m123,

That is excellent information from both. I am signed up to go and very much look forward to the trip. Besides the 2 week trip and its coursework, is there anything else that you had to do prior to or after the trip related to the class and your grade? Or is this just a 2-week Course and I get a long break until the next course?

Hi, I am overwhelmed with the email as well. To be honest, I just delete them as long as it is clearly evident that they are forum posts. I have no tolerance for the email volume, I get more than my fair share of emails at work and don't want to wade through nonsense!

I am counting down the days until this class is over! At this point, I will be ecstatic if I can retain a B! If module 4 hadn't dropped me a full grade level, I think I wouldn't be so stressed at this point!

I NEVER want to take another accounting class ever again!
