Thanks I saw it on a tee shirt once and thought it was funny.

Interesting. I’ll give them a call tomorrow and get some more info. Will probably start preparing for the gmat this weekend.

Any insights on this pairing for next term? I can finish out the program if I take MKT 701 and FIN 701 together next term. FIN would be with Vines, and I've read great things about him. MKT 701 is with James, and I've read that one can be challenging.

Any thoughts? Words of encouragement? Am I nuts?

I can’t speak for MKT but for FIN 701, if you have a little bit of a finance knowledge I don’t think you will need to spend a lot of time on this class. He has 4 open book test, no other work. His study guide lays out most of the information and his zoom sessions he holds several times a week and you can ask anything you need help with.

I’m currently in 730 and really enjoying it with Choi. What’s the feedback on Hseish in 710? How difficult is his class?

Normally I would say no but it may be worth it to finish up. If you are math capable FIN 701 won't be too demanding. You'll have a full workload + some but I would probably do it also if it meant knocking off a session.

The material for the class is Hseish's own word documents so no text. Similar to Vine's reading guide but much more thorough and easier to comprehend. He has almost no interaction with students. No lectures, zoom sessions, powerpoints, etc. He will answer forum posts but other students usually answer the questions before he does. Assessment is based on 4 tests that are open book and not proctored but timed and pretty difficult. I actually learned a lot in 710 but you do it all on your own.

Thanks guys. Yeah I think I am going to power through i just to finish up.

I'm in Fin 730 now as well. Have you taken the exam for this week? Seems like a lot of material being covered.

Thanks Brent for the information. While being hard, if you learned a lot and can apply it, sounds like its worth it. Will be taking it along with MKT 701 so just 4 exams is probably beneficial.

Vantix- Nope, probably not taking it to Sunday. Still trying to get through all the material. Mostly just reading the power point slides, as i do not think i can get through reading all the chapters in time

Lazy But Talented, LSUS does not require the GMAT for admittance into the program.

Everything is online and not on campus. Don't be led away by that though. There are many classes that have team projects and I have made some very good connections and friendships. You just have to reach out and make the effort. My wife is getting resume help from 3 of my past team members who work in HR in my wife's line of work. Without this program and connection I made we would be at a lost right now with her resume. I actually got a job offer from one of my team members, didn't take it but I know who to call if I ever want to make a change or change my living location!

Vantix,

I did those two last term and got two A's. It is very doable but requires effort as with some of the others. You can read about Vines' methods here and for MKT 701 I had Dr. Darrat and he was very lenient with the scoring, so it was an easy A. You should do fine if you have done well with the others. My .02 cents.

Thanks DC213!

It looks like MKT 701 is going back to James next term. I think that's what worries me the most.

Quick question for those who have taken MADM 760 with Dr. Meeks… Does he give extra credit without announcing it? The reason I ask is that I noticed on the last skill builder assignment, he gave me 43 points out of 40? Is this normal? Does he give additional extra credit?

Thank-you for the heads up Brent. The class has been very enjoyable and informative, I'm in a great group as well. The last paper does kind of intimidate me, hence why I asked about the extra credit.

Meeks is a very easy and generous grader, but you do have to put the effort into his course. Follow his directions not just to the letter but also the spirit of what he's asking, and you're pretty much assured of getting a good grade.

Don't let the synthesis paper scare you. If you're getting extra credit on the skill builders, you understand how to write in a way that he likes to see.

becky1992,

I agree with mtntreks, if Meeks is giving you extra credit on writing assignment it means he believes "you get it" and likes the way you put it into words.

He scares everyone with his guidelines for the final paper. I think he does this to motivate people to do their best. You'll be fine, trust me.

Anyone with experience with MADM 752 / Dr. Knotts- does she have extra credit opportunities within this course? I do great on the written assignments but don't do so well on the weekly proctored quizzes. Might just be me but, it seems like quite a bit of material to get through and to be quizzed on. It feels a lot like MADM 701 in my opinion. Any tips are appreciated!

Thank-you for the info Socal & Mtntreks, huge sigh of relief after reading your comments. I really enjoy both the subject matter and Dr. Meeks and am thinking about taking his MADM 751 class next term.

becky1992, I highly recommend you take MADM 751 with Meeks. Format is identical to 760. I took 760 and then 751 right after it and gained a lot of knowledge from both.

Thanks Socal, I just registered for 751 first session next term. Thanks again to you and all the rest that make this forum such an EXTREMELY valuable tool!
