I've been trying to layout the schedule through completion, a bit frustrating how they did the class layout w/ the electives and core classes.

2017 Fall 2
- ECON 705, ISDS 705

2018 Spring 1
- ACCT 701, MADM 701

2018 Spring 2
- MADM 760

2018 Summer 1
- FIN 701, ISDS 710

2018 Summer 2
- ISDS 702, FIN 710

2018 Fall 1
- MKT 701

Any thoughts on the pairings that I lined up? Was Darrat much easier than James for MKT 701? If Darrat teaches MKT in Summer 1 or Fall 1, I could prioritize that.

One thought - MADM 760 is pretty easy. I would pair that with something instead of MADM 701. MADM 701 is alot of writing and busy work so far the most work load I have taken and im 75% of the way through - I would suggest putting that one by itself.

Is MADM 701 proctored or just timed quizzes and is it open book/notes style? Same question for MKT 701.

With Williams(MADM) & James(MKT) as instructors, both are proctored weekly non open book/notes tests. Both have weekly writing assignments. MKT 701 also has 1 or 2 other weekly assignments, some of those being group projects. Material is easy but time demanding.

Awesome. Thanks for the tips, I will be taking Fin 710 then. Do you recall if the tests were open book? Thanks again!

720 was much more difficult to me just because of the international exchange rates for the first 2 test. Either way, be prepared to do A LOT of calculations and formula "plug and chug" in both courses.

Thanks for the insight, I will take 710 then. Do you recall if they are open book? Thanks!

For those of you in ISDS 705 this term, Exam 3 can now be scheduled online. Get a slot while they are open!

They are both open book and open notes. No proctoring. You have to be on your "A" game to complete the test in the timed environment. I didn't take a lunch for 14 weeks straight when I took those courses. I also spent about 2 hours a night getting prepped for the exams. I learned a heck of a lot in the classes. I have actually implemented many of the option strategies we covered in my everyday trading life and have seen a significant amount of gains in my portfolios!

@GSMBA16, when did you take MADM 701 and MKT 701....an above user said they were proctored and not open books/notes. Yeah, those timed exams will put you in a bind if you don't know the material. I'm kicking myself in the butt right now because I should have paired another class with ISDS 705 because I have quite a bit of down time. Especially now after taking the first exam and seeing how it flowed.

I am completing ISDS705 and FIN730 currently for Finance Concentrate. These are my first two courses, but I will take 1 at a time after this session. Registered for FIN701 for Spring 1.

My question is about the availability of the courses. Are there any certain courses that you need to take in a specific term (Fall or Spring), or are they all pretty much always available? Just want to make sure I don't take a course like FIN701, and then find out ACCT701 is only available in Spring 1 and the FIN701 is available all the time.

Thanks.

@cmattox83, if you look on Moodle under MBA Resource link, there should be a PDF schedule on when classes are offered. I took the shotgun approach when I started the Spring of this year and just went down the list starting with BADM 700 and 701, and have been plowing thru core courses. I'm on ISDS 705 now and Spring 2018, will be doing MADM 701 and 760

No course is available all of the time, there is a rotation of availability, with some courses only being available twice per year. I would plot out your full degree plan to finish according to your planned timeline.

Just Google "LSUS MBA Course Rotation" and the 2018 schedule PDF is available.

@joeskee2000 & @marek76 - Thank you, that is a lot of help. I was hoping to be able to plan it all out without having to contact an admin at the school. I will go check out that document now.

joeskee200, GSMBA16 is replying to the question about FIN710 & FIN720 in regards to the open book and not proctored. MADM701 & MKT701 are indeed proctored and closed book.

For those of you going the Data Analytics route, there's an issue when registering for HCAD 750 for Spring AP2. Since this course is also for the MHA program, there's something preventing MBA students from registering for this course. I spoke to Danielle and Jennie and they're working on fixing it. Just wanted to share for those that may be affected

It looks like the only professor for the FIN 710 720 courses Hsiegh...Is that who you had when you took these classes? I was about to take FIN 730 with professor Choi this term, but after looking at the syllabus it seemed like a lot of additional busy work due each week.

I much rather have three-four tests be the basis of my grade.

Thank you brentb71 for clarifying that for me. I should have included the class numbers because this forum can confuse you quick if multiple conversations are going on about the same thing but different courses.

FIN 710 & 720 = not proctored
MADM 701 & MKT 701 = proctored

Both are equally hard in their own way even with open notes and books.

Here's what my schedule for the remainder of the program looks like:

Spring AP1: MKT 701
Spring AP2: ECON 705
Summer AP1: ISDS 710 & MADM 720
Summer AP2: MADM 760 & ISDS 702
Fall AP1: MADM 701

I could've taken MADM 701 in Spring AP1, but I'll listen to those who have come before me haha Thanks for the advice everyone.

Side note: I'm also only taking ISDS 705 right now and really wish I had doubled with ECON 705.
