I just took the Marketing 701 test, and I found it to be hard. Did anyone else find it tough, or is it just me?

I plan on taking it at the end of the week. I didn't do as well on the first exam as I'd like, so I'm knocking the Apple Pay case study out today/tomorrow and studying for the rest of the week.

I agree with you. That material is so simplistic that you can't really study. Some of the questions were odd. I could write a paper on a few of them debating the reason why I chose the answer I chose. I'd be willing to bet my next paycheck that the professor would agree with me, but be forced to reply "Well, this is what is in the following textbook". The problem is we don't have a textbook. Slides aren't enough when you're tested on specific wording.

Who cares, homeboy. I have an MBA. That's all that matters at the end of the day.

On another note, I've done really well in this program and this is my last course. I'm currently working on tracking my grade for this course and I'm considering skipping the last two cases. The difference is a .1 change in GPA. I'm fine with that. It will make these last two weeks so easy.

Buck,
If you really think you will struggle to earn a B then yes I would withdrawal from the class since the pre-reqs are not required anymore. I just hate to see you lose that money.
As someone else said, a W on a transcript will not mean anything, especially if you are a working professional. Just be careful not make a pattern of dropping/withdrawing from courses.

Winchester, thanks for the quick response. I went ahead and dropped. In the end, I just didn't see any reason to take the risk.
Financially, it wasn't a big hit due to the way I am funding the degree program. Additionally, whether I dropped now or completed the course, the money was spent either way. I did learn some things that I am sure will be beneficial in the future.
I am pursuing an HR concentration, so I don't intend on focusing on math intensive courses. With that being said, I believe ECON 705, ACCT 701 and FIN 701 are likely to be my biggest stumbling blocks. However, I finished the ECON portion of BADM 701, so I am as prepared for ECON 705 as I am ever going to be. I intend on taking the 1 hour accounting preparation class before next fall. With finance, I may or may not be able to fit the preparation course in with the schedule I have planned.
I am registered for MADM 720 and 760 for AP2, so I am probably going to be busy. However, both of these courses seem to be more in my wheelhouse.
In any event, thanks again for your assistance.

That's horrible communication skills and judging by my experience in this program, it's a damn epidemic.
I finished the program last year and some of the discussion posts were comical. It really is sad that LSUS lets them into the program. It seemed that most of those students came from either online universities, Southern or Grambling and used their undergraduate GPA to waive the GMAT/GRE requirement.
I have a lot of my old study material as well as a few test banks if anyone would like them. Shoot me an email at Drunkencrawfishtd@gmail.com and I will share.

Has anyone take the ACCT assessment for this week? Is it structured just like the first 3 were? I wish he would structure the assessments similar to how the Exam was structured. It may be a bit more difficult but we would be better prepared for the Exam.

It was exactly like the previous 3. Scored 100% on it by using the search function in the text.

Absolutely, it is

Potential Achilles heel of the program, in my humble opinion.

I find it beyond funny how a guy who admittedly got multiple C's in this program is talking about who should be eligible to get into the program or not!
Posted on 9/26/17 at 1:57 pm to Locoasabat
Hey, easy there Loco. You pop in with your 3rd post ever on TD with that comment. Why would you go back and research past threads to come up with your comment? Back it off.
We're a friendly group in here. And just because Paul may have earned a "C" has nothing to do with how sharp he is. I've learned a lot in classes I did not earn an A in.
Some people get A's, but don't earn them.....

Hey Socal, i'm not making fun of anyone, I just think its hilarious that an admitted C student is discussing who should be eligible to get into this program or not. And FYI, you do realize that Southern and Grambling are historically black Colleges, right? Why specifically name those Universities? Show me the evidence that these African American students used their GPA's to get a waiver on the GMAT. I may not post much but when I see garbage and hate being spewed, I'm going to speak up.

Hey Loco, thanks for clarifying your comments. I understand where you're coming from now. I just know Paul so I know that's not the place he's coming from or what his intent was in his comments.

Let's stop with this nonsense and get back to this board's intended purpose

I do. I also realized that all of the discussion posts that were written WELL below MBA standards were from those specific schools as well as the online colleges (University of Phoenix, SNHU, and DeVry). It has nothing to do with them being HBCU's but rather them being subpar colleges and students using their business degree GPA from those subpar colleges to get into the program.

Some of you all keep saying how well you know Paul. Well, I suppose you guys hit it off. That's not the case for all of us. I felt he was quite rude to me when I first joined and he knew nothing about me. Based on his use of words towards NYSoldier, he doesn't exactly seem like a kind person. He mostly appeared to be condescending and forceful with his words. He is immediately ready to deflect and try to repair his image rather than reword his initial post to show his true intent. That tells me he cares much more about his appearance on this forum than he does about being constructive to those he/we could help in this program. Maybe multiple comments/opinioms regarding his post will help him revisit how it came off. I'm sure we all put our foot in our mouth at some point. Our response is more important.

WOW, so you realized that ALL of the discussion posts were from these specific schools, huh? So, how exactly did you come to this realization? Do you have data that specifically proves this? If so I would love to see it. Otherwise, go post your made up discriminative garbage somewhere else!
Posted on 9/26/17 at 4:01 pm to NYSoldier
I know they came from those schools because I had multiple people in group projects. For my MADM 710 group project we had two Southern graduates who were friends. They would write as if someone was sending a text message not an MBA level assignment. They would then complain that we were deleting all of their work when we had to proofread and edit the assignment. In 760 there was a DeVry graduate who wouldn't use periods, capital letters and would use abbreviations like "cuz' in his discussion posts. By the way, his name was Nathan. My friend would send me pictures of posts from his class that were of the same quality. I would argue that everyone who is in, or has completed the program, knows EXACTLY what I am talking about.
I am not saying that all graduates from those schools aren't good students or that they can't do MBA level work. I am saying that the students who were noticeably not MBA material came from those schools. My main point was that the program should have a minimum GMAT requirement for entry.
But I don't want to derail the thread anymore than I already have. If anyone else wants study material see my previous post and I will be glad to send it over when I get home.
