You've never heard the term "frick trophy"?

I never said it wasn't. That doesn't mean a reception is a bar or LL should be handing out parenting advice.
It's funny. 6 months ago I was on the 'absolutely no kids' train and lost the argument. We had too many close relatives with small children that would have had to miss the wedding if we insisted on no children.
I was really upset, thinking the reception would suck.... Downtown NOLA reception that started at 8:30 PM. That's no place for kiss....
I didn't even notice. We found a place/caterer that didn't charge for kids under 10, and everything was great. Those who wanted to bring theirs did so. Those who wanted a night out without their kids founds sitters.

I don't feel like a party that begins at 8pm and serves copious amounts of alcohol is a place for children.
Ive been to a ton of weddings, and have never seen something that would be inappropriate for a kid to see. I dont really like kids either. But what kind of weddings are yall going to where it isnt a place for kids?

This is my big question. I completely understand not wanting them there, but don't give out some bullshite reason such as a reception is a bar. Just say you don't want kids there

This thread lasted a lot longer than I initially envisioned.

I think the inappropriate stuff is just a nice way of saying you don't want them there.
There's nothing there that will harm them, I'm sure. But people try to give convincing reasons to avoid saying "I don't want your kid there".. and while some of the reasons are very valid (bad kids, kids you don't know, giving the parents a night away, being charged per head, etc.), it really boils down to the couple not wanting the kid there. But in order to maintain relationships with these people, you can't diss their kids like that

Yea i mean that would be at the bottom of my list regarding kids.
I mainly wouldn't want them crying and making a scene during the ceremony. And involving them in a headcount is definitely a major concern if you're crunching numbers.
But the atmosphere? really? I don't see 80 yr old grandparents in a bar, and they are still invited.

Yeah I'm fine if the people getting married don't want kids. I'm not going but hey it's your wedding.

Honestly, your persona on here has always struck me as the type that would pay to leave your kid somewhere so you don't have to watch over them while you take advantage of an open bar with your wife. Surprised by your stance on this

Anyhoo.. Yall should just do like me and get divorced. Work schedule out to not have them little shitbiscuits on nights you wanna throwdown like a college kid.
Hidden joys of divorce.
