I ordered a new charger and micro usb

I did the same thing with no avail. My old charger from a previous phone won't charge my S3, but work on my wife's Kindle Fire. This is what leads me to believe the problem is with the charging port. My phone is already rooted so I might try the cyanogenmod. Let me know if the new stuff works and I will let you know if I do install the mod.

I replaced both the battery and charger. Huge difference. I didn't realize how shot my battery was (I'd be down to 50% battery by lunchtime with light-moderate use with all the Bluetooth, wifi, etc. off and power saving mode on) and requiring 5+ hours to charge. For two days now with the new battery I've gotten home at night with ~70% battery left.

If you're having battery issues, get a new one...that's a huge perk to the galaxy phones...you can replace the batteries with minimal cost and hassle. Hope this helps some people.
