I have sat on the line 30+ minutes every day this week trying to cancel my TV service. I believe they're doing this on purpose trying to get people to hang up.

Every day. I've tried Morning. Afternoon. It doesn't matter. This must be company policy.

They will offer you like $40 off a month for a year to stay. I call to cancel every year.

Not surprising... I always get a hood rat on the line when I call that TPOS company.

Tell them you want to add extra service, then when you get a human, tell them you're canceling.

they want you to wait for the people who are specifically trained to haggle with you and get you to stay

I cancelled two weeks ago, and I've heard of a few others doing so as well, so I they might be busy

I don't get the hate for Cox. I've had them for over 10 years and I've never had any problems. The few times I had to call them to add tiers or cancel tiers it was no problem.

I canceled a few weeks ago, and I definitely thought that I was out on hold for an unnecessarily long time. It isn't as bad as you're describing though. You just gotta be patient.

Press "2" to speak to someone in Spanish. No wait time. The Spanish-speaking customer service persons speak English as well.

Cancelled yesterday. They only had me on hold for 15 minutes or so. That was about 3pm.

I called last week about a recurring problem and the automated response asked if I had called about the problem before. I said yes, and it hung up on me! Called back said no, and I was transferred to a real person.

frick you cox!

I've been planning on calling them to try and negotiate a lower rate for a while. I may end up waiting to see if they pick up the SEC network, it would suck if I got locked into a contract with them for a lower rate and they didn't have it.

Bill is currently around $200 a month for phone, internet, and two DVR boxes.

Shooting for $30 a month off, sound reasonable?

all you can do is complain to the FCC and your Attorney General Consumer Division. If you can find other customers who were treated similarly try to doc the date/time of day and length of hold time.

build a record then sic the govt on them... pattern and practice is first step to establish

Everybody always says that when they call they get all these crazy discounts thrown at them to stay. Well I called Cox and said I wanted to cancel unless I could get a reduced rate, they told me I could drop off my box at the Florida Blvd office. So I said F it and cut the cord, those cheap bastards.

Slightly offtopic: Anyone have any luck with canceling DirectTV before their contract was up?
