Started w/ base salary of $56,400 four years ago this past weekend. Mechanical engineer working in the petroleum engineering field. I've moved into the project management side of the business and doubled that last year if you include bonuses. Get your engineering degree even if you hate the idea of being an engineer. You will get the high paying management jobs before a business major..... at least on the oilfield.

I have a high paying management job in the oilfield and I dropped out of college. I was actually chosen over a guy with a petroleum engineering degree because I had more experience.
Fwiw, I wish I had an engineering degree.
