Back in the day I used a stihl w/ the metal blade attachment that will cut sapling up to and inch or so. It was the most dangerous f’n thing I have ever done w a small motor, the kick back was amazing and scared the hell outta me, I am used to weed eater chain saws pressure washers, trash pumps etc but a blade spinning at f’n warp speed 2-3’ from my legs w/ no guard – yikes. Of course I didn’t have chain saw pants/chaps etc, I at least had on safety boots so my toes would be safe. Other than the safety factor that set up went thru long grass, weeds and sapling like buddah ………..
U definitely needed long pants, glasses, gloves etc w/ the Shiite (rocks, dirts, pieces of wood etc) that would fly from the blades
As far as weedeater string I like the square vs the round version and go w/ the largest diameter the weedeater will use because I hate repooling, my 18 year old has gotten good at lawn maintenance but he is off to college so its next man up now – time for the 13 yr old to take over. But I will go w/ bootleggers recommendation, we are amateurs on yard/lawn maintenance he is the pro
