it's just racist leftist outrage.

they see Africans as beneath them and the leftists believe they should be the ones parenting the africans on how they can and cannot use their own resources. Paternalism cloaked in concern for the environment.

even if elephants went extinct, what harm would there be? it's not like they play a vital role in nature. there would be no catastrophe if there were no wild elephants.

the outrage here is absurd. how many species did europeans wipe out? yet they want to condemn Africans for hunting their own resources.

You are why I hate people. You are a small man of low cunning. frick yourself.

Drop your jackass free market textbook and think for yourself. You think poachers would stop if the elephants were owned by some private, non government affiliated entity? Who should "own" them?

Drop your jackass hippie commune pamphlet - the owners would f*cking stop the poachers - probably by killing them. In this case, I believe that would be a superior outcome.

ETA: As to who should own them - probably someone capable of making a profit with them and protecting them.

You don't think the current organization is trying to kill them?

Not well enough, apparently. Instead of corrupt public "servants", how about a guy whose livelihood is tied up in those elephants? That guy would be motiviated to kill the poachers.

In the United States, the parks service could probably handle their protection - if we had wild elephants here. However, Kenya and the Congo aren't exactly the United States.

The problem with that is that there is no entity that would be willing to put money into that park as it's surrounded by warring factions.

Then allow someone to buy the elephants and move them someplace safe and secure.

These are the same kind of savages that run most of the middle east. No humanity whatsoever. It's an awful shame.

So can poor people here start shooting bald eagles to make money off them?

I mean they are just trying to make money.

bald eagles a dime a dozen in america.

i dont think americans have any right to condemn Africans for killing their own resources for profit. isn't that how a lot of American fortunes were made? and still made especially in louisiana with oil.

no they can't.

But in the grand scheme, logically speaking, there's no real difference in shooting a bald Eagle as opposed to any other bird or animal in terms of one being "ok" and the other making you some horrible human being.

Aren't you that new troll on the food and drink board?

I see you've made your way over here. Good. Please don't go back to the food and drink board.

Allowing limited, controlled hunting of the elephants would do more to save them than relying on the system in place now.
