Why is there not a "FLOP" rule in this stupid soccer tourney?

These dudes are punks. They act like they got raped by Mike Tyson every time someone steps on their toes or runs into them. Pussy game. That's why it is hard to watch.

They've been waiting on you to shed light on it. Expect a rule change soon.

It's not nearly as bad as some if you people make it out to be. It is a little frustrating but they aren't just dropping left and right for no reason at all.

I really really hate soccer. I was also banned for trolling the soccer board so I hate soccer even more

It's really just a Latin/south American thing for the most part...not all teams have a flopping problem

Are you talking about soccer players or NFL receivers?

I love when the "once every four years" soccer fans start blabbering

I am no more than a casual soccer fan, but flopping in soccer seems to me to be insanely stupid. In a game that is a constant battle of position, laying on the ground trying to draw a penalty seems to put your team in a bad position.

I'm from a -10k population mountain town and even we had a soccer league, so I get the sport-just not the hair gel drama. There's not enough refs to see the bullsh#t, so players exploit it. I watched today for about 30mins, and in that span saw an absolutely perfect 50yd pass/header/goal, and an absolutely Bette Midler acting job on a flop. I'll stick with hockey for my international favorite.

There is a "flop" rule in soccer. You are supposed to get a yellow card for it. Most of the time it happens too quickly for the ref to determine if it's 100% a dive. It's easier to tell when you can sit on your couch and watch 5 replays of it. It's also not like basketball where a ref is always within 10-15 feet.

Soccer is gayer than an Elton John concert in College Station, Texas.

I can't comprehend how people don't enjoy soccer. The world cup is maybe the greatest event in sports.

No flop rule but there is a unique feature called advantage where if a player is fouled ref won't call it because victims team is still in possession of the ball and there is a scoring opportunity. Calling the foul would be back tracking.

Dear Soccer Fans,

I really do enjoy you defending your product; however, attacking fans of other sports and saying OMG IT'S GONNA HE HUGGEEEEE, really turns everyone off.

Thanks,

Because FIFA cares about money about 50x more than they care about the legitimacy of the sport.

I wish the OP were written differently but it is beyond me why the more faithful soccer fans aren't exasperated with the flopping - it is a beautiful game but the ridiculousness of flopping theatrics significantly affecting outcomes is a big problem for the legitimacy of a sport.

If they really wanted to get rid of it they could get rid of it. They could even do something as draconian as hand out retroactive red cards, reverse outcomes or suspend players guilty of flopping for the next five games. It is tempting to say there would be almost no more problem with any of those approaches.
