I jumped off when Korra got her powers back at the end of the first season. It was too easy of an out for what could have been really solid character development.

But I remember Amon was a badass and his death scene was the darkest thing I could remember in a children series.

I might eventually catch back up.

You shouldn't be reading this thread then

But push through season 2 until you get to season 3, season 3 has been awesome

Honestly, this is a complaint I completely understand, since this is the single biggest frick-up in the history of the franchise. The thing is, Korra is kind of a count for the first half of season 2, and it makes no sense. It's the arc she went through in the first season, but if she lacked the other 3 elements to fight evil, then her actions would be rational and make sense. And on top of that, there is a perfect opportunity both from a plot and character perspective in Season 2 for her to regain her full powers.

But in the end, knowing the history of the series, it's hard to blame them. Korra was initially planned as a miniseries, and then they'd do a miniseries on Zuko finding his mother and a miniseries on Avatar Wan, but when they saw the quality of the first season of Korra, Nick blindly gave them 3 more seasons of it. As a result, it seems Seasons 2-4 are more a continuous plot, and the first season really has nothing to do with the plot at all.

Even the haters of Korra are agreeing that so far, this is the best season in the Avatar franchise. Think of how great and dark Season 2 was of the original series, and basically double it. I think taking it off the networks was largely because of the fact that the creators took a ton of pages and tropes from Game of Thrones and put it into Avatar.
