The point remains the same. Do we really think the city went from corrupt as frick to not so bad in 2 years? I'm certainly not ready to go there.

and, likewise, the firefighters' pension fund issue.

That was the doing of the firefighters' pension funds investment committee. The city shouldn't have to bail them out of their bad investment decisions.

I love NOLA but it sucks when stuff like Uber getting denied because of the city council and abortion clinics being shut down (although that is a state issue) happen. Construction sucks, but at least their is a payoff at the end of the day. I can't wait for the Napoleon Ave project to be complete. That has been an eternity.

Going to LA, Houston, and Nola twice in 10 years was too much. Memphis, Charlotte, OKC, etc. are a nice change of pace.

That's weird to hear someone say... I've never heard that as a complaint from visitors, players, or anyone for that matter. I'm willing to bet if you asked NBA players and people coming in for the game, the majority would rather go to NOLA twice in one year than go to Charlotte or OKC.

Clearly, you are below average.

Do you have specific examples? I'm genuinely curious. I'm pretty familiar with the Nagin fiasco because of one of my business clients' alleged involvement. That entire mess was and is pretty well contained and limited. City Hall itself, as far as I can tell, has gotten a good scrubbing on the inside.

You'll find petty "corruption" in virtually every city of any size. I'm not saying it's acceptable by any means, but that's reality and it's mostly small potatoes. New Orleans certainly has a colorful history of corruption, but it's been dealt with pretty firmly in the last few years. And it absolutely has little or nothing to do with bad streets or broken street lights.
