Saw his standup at the Ryman in Nashville last year.

He talked about it. He is rich as hell and moved to a small town in Iowa, Ohio, Illinois or something and lives on a farm.

"People ask where I've been all these years. "N**** I've been on the couch."

He had a great interview on "Inside the Actors Studio." They used to have it on youtube, but I think it has been deleted.

Everyone who loved Chappelle's Show was bitter when he walked away. We all remember how mad we were at him for not coming back and continuing to entertain us.

Yet, as the years have gone by, Chappelle's Show STILL airs on Comedy Central, and people STILL tune in to watch it, and there were only 2 or 3 seasons that aired 10 years ago. That's the sign of something great, and that show has become a benchmark of comedy.

I can't imagine that show going on and starting to slack as the seasons went by, and hearing "Chappelle's Show was so much better in the early years!" type of shite. It would be tragic.

Now, I'm happy Dave walked away and left the show as great as it was. He probably still struggles with his decision, but at least it doesn't look like it was the wrong move afterall.

Still annoyed I went to his Houston show and he did 20 minutes of jokes and bolted. Not sure why he was on tour if he didn't give a shite.

By comparison I saw Seinfeld on his 4th show in two days in New Orleans. Guy went almost an hour and a half and you wouldn't have known he did the same show a few hours earlier. A true pro.

This is a great thread on a great webpage for unusual people to passionately share weird/strange counter-opinions about the most inane topics of non-interest.

That show was the GOAT. It's probably better that he didn't stick around long enough to jump the shark.

I will forever be convinced that Dave primarily left his show because he suddenly lost his passion for it and comedy in general, like an ordinary person that can't take another day of their monotonous job and they tell their bosses to go frick themselves on the way out the door. I think he ultimately couldn't handle fame. He got so popular it was like he couldn't go anywhere in public without getting shouted at "I'm rick james bitch" 100 times.

His reclusiveness shows this more than anything

Anyone that has seen Chappelle live in the last few years might agree. I saw him once, and I just got this vibe of "I don't want to do this at all, but my name sells tickets and I have bills to pay."
