I was laughing at that trailer. It seems like a true dumb and dumber movie.

I don't understand the talk about Jeff Daniels not taking to his role as well. He seems to be the exact same guy to me.

I laughed at one of the initial scenes when Harry walked up to Lloyd sitting in the wheelchair. Lloyd's face made me crack up.

If people watched this trailer today with no past - they would think it was the worst trailer/movie ever.

It's not 1994 - same comedy doesn't stay great forever. This movie was a hit before the entire Apatow generation.

Yeah it was only 2 minutes but generally they try to squeeze some of the best material into those 2 minutes and if that is the best then I am worried.

Just rewatched both trailers and this is what I spot.
Old Trailer - while they are indeed saying/doing stupid shite, it is calm and subtle. They speak in normal tones while delivering their lines.
New Trailer - they seem to be exclaiming(!) every other line while delivering the joke.
Of course, this doesn't mean they do this the whole film, but what I've gathered from the two trailers. I also vote that something seems a bit off with Daniels.
ETA: The music to the new trailer is annoying as hell

Looks even worse than I thought it would be. I wont see it.
To me, D&D was almost funny by accident, like the actors just nailed it. Can not be replicated. This new one looks so cheap and a money grab.

What made Dumb and Dumber funny was the comedic aspect of it. Shock and awe physical comedy like the catheter thing doesn't do it for me in regards to this one. I might pass and just assume Dumb and Dumber stands alone, and they never made this one.

Yeah, I read the reviews before I got a chance to watch it and expected the biggest pile of dogshit trailer ever. And...it wasn't. I actually thought it was pretty amusing. I don't expect it to live up to the original, but I still think I'll enjoy it.

Yeah, this one is all about expectations IMO. If you're expecting it to be the first one, then you'll hate it (and you're also stupid). I feel like expecting dumb (but still sort of witty) humor, throwback references, and some slapstick is about on par for this one. I'm not even sure why people are pissed at the old references...that's gonna be one of the better aspects of this I think.

If this isn't the most uppitiest shite I've ever seen posted on the movie board. GTFO with this. People talking about how its not funny. You know what wasn't funny? Hangover 2. Dumb and Dumber Too is pretty hilarious IMO, cheesy, of course but it is what it is.
My grandmother had the same perspective on the original. You're just encapsulating your perspective from 8-11 years old, where it was the best movie ever.
