i mean, seriously? so a guy, who has barely used his powers, is completely outmatched in absolutely every physical way possible and is up against a GENERAL who was genetically disposed to fighting and strategy, can just easily move the fight where he demanded it? how do you propose he would have gotten Zod away?
Someone did get punched into space, how about keeping the fight up there away from people? How about punching him further out into space?
Or punch Zod out into the ocean. The movie set rules that he could do it, but it was all.."Let's blow stuff up instead." Just inconsistent.
quote:
there was just as much actual fighting. it wasnt all throwing. a lot of it was being hit so hard you flew into something. thats what superhuman strength does. now add multiple of them into the mix with only one trying not to destroy the city. this isnt a godly-Superman. To do what you are suggesting would put him on that god-tier that people bitch about to begin with. the destruction was supposed to jarring.
I'm suggesting the writers could create a tense battle without making the physics so extreme to where something got destroyed on literally every exchange of blows. Was it cool to look at? I mean if that's all you expected, sure. But Superman is supposed to be more than that.

Yeah, I thought it was good. Sorry you were disappointed. Maybe it's just not your kind of movie.

Nope. Not to me. I loved them. To each his own.
Yet your third and fourth post in this thread:
quote:
I never understood the criticism this got. As if Superman had a choice. Should he have just ran from Zod and let him destroy the world? Zod came after him.
quote:
Or kill anyone either. How unrealistic is that when you're dealing with someone with the power of Zod? You can't just put that guy in jail. People expect him to be perfect. Save the world but make sure you do it without a scratch. Ridiculous. Earth doesn't have a Asgardian prison like where they kept Loki.
You immediately criticize other opinions. It's either to each his own or we can criticize other opinions. Which is it?
(As a side note, both of these could be solved by a better script, it's as simple as that. You ask "What could Superman have done?" the answer, in this case because of Goyer, is "He could have had a better script that didn't put him in 1) Scenarios of wanton destruction 2) Been more clear about the abilities of Zod and Superman. As I've said in multiple threads, all the pieces were good, how it came together was really chaotic and convenient...*coughGoyercough*)

It's a movie, man. I enjoyed it. Let it go.

No it's certainly my kind of movie, it just isn't a very good movie. Which is sad.

Please stop reposting that massive Reddit post.
I've only posted it like twice in the past few months before this thread.

Except half the first page is people talking about those who criticize MoS. I mean it is a discussion board, expect people to you know, engage in discussion.

Yeah, I don't criticize it. I don't agree with your opinion of the action scenes. That's pretty much it. What else is there to discuss. Do you think I'm going to change my mind?

Wrong.
Movie quality isn't relative. Movie appreciation is, though. You appreciate this movie, that's great, different strokes, but it isn't a "great" movie.
I don't like it because it's poorly constructed, not because it isn't my type of film.
If movie quality was relative, then this board has absolutely no point.

Way to keep an open mind.

You seem to be a Marvel fanboy. I wouldn't complain about any creative decision that WB makes when IM3 was probably the most disappointing superhero movie of the last decade.

It's better than every single Marvel movie with the exception of The Avengers of which it was on par with.

In your opinion.
Uh no, that's a fact. There's no opinion there. There are many holes in the plot, some of the character motivations, etc. It's a movie with a lot of story problems. That isn't an opinion.
Sometimes it's ok to overlook small hiccups, sometimes, when these things are supposed to form the foundation of this mythic character, you can't. See Pa Kent's approach. Completely wasted.
