might have given more cred to the article had he clarified the pic, doesn't change the fact that a lot of this type of surplus is going to pds/sheriffs depts., etc,

I do believe there is equipment going to local departments but not on the scale that many on this board espouse about. Local departments can ask the Feds for money for certain things and the Feds supply it. Any Mraps that are purchased are acutallu purcahsed from the fed with fed dollars. Obviously all of that money once belonged to tax payers but if you want to get mad at someone get made at the fed govt. for handing out money like it was candy.

The feds are getting rid of all that stuff at bargain-basement prices b/c they don't want to store it or maintain it, either.

That still doesn't answer the question of why in the hell an Indiana sheriff's department would have any possible use for an MRAP.

All types of crime, violent and non-violent, continue to fall at dramatic rates. This is fact.

Local yokels buying surplus combat-ready military gear is ridiculous.

who said I was mad, just making an observation, however, the tiny pd where I live has equipment like that(and so does every surrounding pd,)and a big crime wave around here is when HS kids put soap in the neighborhood fountains
