I have a craftsman with a b&s 7.0 engine. Have had problems before with the carb and has been fixed under warranty. Well warranty has expired and am having carb problems again... i think. So i disassembled the carb today and cleaned it well. Got the mower running and it stayed running for about an hour. Long enough to cut the front yard. So i stop and take a break and come back out after about 15 min. And.... mower not starting again. Gas is leaking fromthe air filter. Replaced the spark plug today as well. Any idea where to go from here ?? Replace the float and the needle in the carb ??

How did you clean the carb and what product did you clean it with?

Choke may be stuck? Clean the choke linkage? Are you getting spark to the plug when it floods out? Squirt some carb/choke cleaner in the carb and see if it fires. And if it doesn't fire, use the carb/choke cleaner and kill some boring bees whilst you've got the spray can in your hands.

sounds to me like the little needle that the float is attached to is sticking...might take a carb kit to fix it...

one thing you need to be sure of is that gasoline has not run into the crankcase oil...if it is flowing out of the air filter, some may be running back into the crankcase...just check the oil level to be sure it hasn't risen...

once the carb problem is ironed out, I would change oil....
