I mean, ALLLLLL of those names are ALLLLLLL over the place. Bowie, Crockett, Houston, Travis, Dimmitt, Austin, Burleson, and Johnson Counties, the cities of Houston and Austin, the universities of Sam Houston State and Steven F. Austin, and the countless high schools of the same names all say hello.
Besides, a lot of time has passed since those people were in the mix, so to expect Texans of today to shake your hand, say hello, and thanks for coming in there back in the day is, well, just silly...
All of this. They name streets, counties, colleges, and cities after all of these people.

I would argue that Texas remembers it's history just as much, if not more, than any other state.
Go to small towns like Gonzales, TX and see all of the "Come and Take It" cannon flags everywhere and the annual festival they have celebrating their history. That's just one of hundreds of small towns in Texas that celebrate their past and the contributions to its history the people there made. And its hard to forget about those people named when nearly every major city in Texas is named for one,
