I love Mississippi especially gulf coast area, not much different than the north shore in Louisiana IMO.

Thank you. MS as a whole, I agree, is terrible, and many of the people in this state make terrible choices. However, the three coastal counties are extremely different than the rest. I wish we were our own state or would be adopted by LA.

would y'all consider trading us for Slidell or chalmette or something?

Texans can thank southerners for there even being a Texas but you'll never hear that from a Texan. I'll do it for them. Thank you Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, William Travis, Philip Dimmitt, Steven F Austin, Edward Burleson, Frank Johnson, the New Orlean greys, and the countless other southerns who laid down their lives so you can today spout of at the mouth about how great Texas is. You are welcome from every and all southerners.

People make jokes about the Mississippi gulf coast not being in the "real" Mississippi. Similar to jokes south Louisianans make about the Shreveport area.

Now that's a stretch. I never used the word beautiful. But, it can be fun. And, we are a hop, skip, and jump away from New Orleans, mobile, Pensacola beach, etc.

However, there ain't shite to do in Pascagoula.

Texas is one of the best places in the country to live. There is no state income tax, housing is less expensive than here in Baton Rouge or Lafayette also. Better bass fishing, better deer hunting than La and solid saltwater fishing on the coast. You obviously h
you failed to mention the property taxes - they are not cheap in Taxes.

I really don't get all the Texas hate tbh.

Well, some people on the left hate Texas for the same reason that some of those on the right hate California. IMHO, this is absolutely ridiculous, but it's the truth. In addition, and I know this may shock some of you, but a lot of Texans are pretty damned arrogant about their state.

I've lived there, and have worked in every corner of that state. This attitude tends to exist in the nicest parts of the state, as well as the absolute shitholes like the border towns and the Texas Pandhandle.

All that being said, I'm a Texas fan. The cost of living is low, the job market is good... I really love Austin and the Hill Country. And overall, I find the people to be very friendly... Just don't say another state is nice or criticize Texas around them.
