I probably would not be moving more than 5 lbs max. I don't think I will need an actuator quite so large or expensive. Actuator will be weather protected also.
timers would be better than photocell for some reasons but you would have to reset for daylight savings but overall probably better with timers.

I agree with this. Yeah those motors looked bigger than necessary to me too but idk what to type into the search to get what you're looking for. Maybe a solenoid?

We could used a smart relay that has daylight saving time built in. Like IDEC LINK

for something that light, you could rig 4 after market power window actuators. they act pretty quick, but they are cheap. I used some to build a few hobby projects while back.
