Awesome gif.
And awesome collection WhoDatFan. I was always a Bobby Hebert fan. Loved the emotion he played with, even when some of the mistakes were his own. He wasn't perfect but he was, and still is a true, blue down-da-bya boy.
Sucked balls when he went to the hated rival Falcons but you can't fault a man for making a living. I don't know if I'd rank him Top 10 because, as mentioned above, the league was full off future HOF'ers (and you left out Montana...how? I have no clue). But I think top 15 is fair to say.
Bobby to Eric Martin over the middle was like Drew to Jimmy...you knew it was coming sooner or later and usually sooner. Eric used to take some shots and kept getting up.

I would STRONGLY DISAGREE with the notion that most Saints fans look at Bobby Hebert's playing days with disgust.
Was he Joe Montana or Dan Fouts, no. In fact, he was nowhere near as good as Tony Romo is now.
But he was certainly a decent quarterback, a great game manager, and made few mistakes. He also got the crap knocked out of him often and kept going.
And he was from Louisiana- he was one of us, and we were willing to cut him more slack than a Steve Walsh or a Dave Wilson.
The quarterback we all look back with disgust towards is Aaron Brooks. With a better quarterback, we would have made the playoffs in 2001, 2002, and 2003.

Don't forget the holdout that caused the Saints to freak out and trade a 1, 2 and 3 for Steve Walsh, destroying the future of the Jim Mora Era.
Oh, and flying around the Superdome like a Falcon when he came back.

I think it's the #1 Reason
#2: Letting all the "Declining Players" walk away
#3: The three-headed GM when Finks died
#4: Loyalty to Carl Smith

Slight change for me.
#1 The three-headed GM when Finks died
#2 Loyalty to Carl Smith
I think it all cascaded down from #1 to be honest. A horrible decision by Benson I'm sure he regrets.

You can put a bow tie on a turd. Its still a turd.
In this case concerning your OP Bobby is the bow tie.
Carl(thirdandlong)Smith is the turd.
Hope that helps.
Thats perfect! almost like it was spoken by Bobby himself..........well a drunken Bobby
I loved Bobby when I was little! In fact the #3 was my first jersey.

Maybe it was...
Going back to those years with the Saints most will remember the glories of watching the first half in those days. No matter who or where or when(cept monday nights) we would be ahead and looking good
Then after the other team made the adjustments at halftime you would watch as slowly the wheels would come off.
Wasting what was almost always another superb performance from the D.
Looking back how many times I ranted about a lack of halftime adjustments by the Saints.
Some things look a damn site better in the rear view mirror.

1988 was Hebert's best season with the Saints. His passer rating was 10th in the NFL that year.

Hebert was clearly the weak link on an otherwise stacked team. Arguably the league's best defense, a strong running game, great special teams and zero playoff wins...
I sat in the stands for the Eagles playoff game and the Philly fans around were just going on and on about what a chump Bobby was...I wasn't about to argue back. They were right.

The Saints were the only NFL team I've ever seen try to sit on a 3-point halftime lead. Carl Smith was possessed by the spirit of Woody Hayes.
And one thing I noticed about Bobby...He could never seem to shake off a bad start. If he started out poorly. he wasn't going to get any better.

That wasn't the problem, IMO. I thought the problem was:
1. Prevent Defense
2. Starting to run out the clock with 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter

Some buddies and I were discussing Kapernick's new contract and we got around to Bobby. Long story short, my opinion is that Bobby was a middle of the pack, top 15 QB in his era. The troll of the group claims Bobby was not, just a terrible player who couldn't capitalize even with the best defense in the league for a few years. Give us some wisdom.
He's an old drunk.

Bobby played above .500 ball with the Saints and sub .500 ball with the Falcons.

True Dat. First home playoff game vs Wade Wilson? Vikings. First possession, I think, Bobby to Eric 15-20 post over the middle in endzone...TOUCHDOWN!!!Dome exploding...tell my season tickets buddies, "the f'n route is on"...little did I know it really was.

Somewhat true really. Not preposterous by any means.
The QB position was the weakest link on Mora's teams. By far.
Posted on 6/9/14 at 6:40 am to EmperorGout
The only playmaker on that team not on the defence was Morten Anderson.
Doesn't help the QB much.
How much better if any Bobby would have been I don't know. But that and Carl Smith never gave us the chance to find out.
